In the small
This year we are diving deeper into the hive. Into the bees tiny world and even closer! We started by looking at the mites we found last year on our bees and up close at the parts of our bees. (Don’t worry she died of natural causes in the hive we didn’t kill her). We then started taking samples of pollen so we can make a catalog of local pollen. The plan is to later use this catalogue identify specific pollen in our honey! This will help know both what flowers it’s made from and what local allergies it’s even better for!! Here’s a picture of a mite we found on one of our bees. I’ll talk more about varroa mites in my next blog. See ya next time. “In the hive!”
